U. F. O. SPOTTED OVER THE SHIRLEY HALL
During the Social Evening on 8th May 2009, the Hon Secretary stood in the corridor near room W14 to take a digital photograph of a rainbow over the clock tower.
The picture has not been edited in any way, but when it was downloaded we were surprised to spot the strange object hovering above the Shirley Hall, which none of the group who admired the rainbow had noticed at the time!
Presumably there is a logical explanation, or has "Pegleg" been experimenting in Mr Cowan's laboratory?
BEAUMARIS BOY IS THIS YEAR'S PRESIDENT
At the Annual General Meeting on 19th March, PETER CLARKE was elected President of the Brotherly Society, succeeding Sandy Tittershill. Peter joined the school in 1944 at Beaumaris, and left in 1951 after the school returned to Liverpool.
Peter still works hard for the Trades Union movement, and was delighted to discover that the school now teaches a subject that he had to learn for himself!
JAMES LYON succeeds Kevin Flynn as Vice-President.
We wish them both well as they serve the Society in the coming year.

SOCIAL EVENING 2009
Many thanks to those who attended a very enjoyable evening on 8th May. It was a pity that not as many as we had hoped managed to attend, but those who did enjoyed a tour of the school and plenty of food! Two classmates who had not met since 1951 were reunited at the event.
Thanks are also due to Debbie & Sandy who catered for the event. They also looked after us during the Tricentenary weekend and the quality and presentation of the meals and refreshments was second-to-none. Here is a happy group of guests:

TRACING YOUR ANCESTORS?
We receive many enquiries from people trying to find out about their ancestors who may have been pupils at the Blue Coat School. Before contacting us, these little pointers may help you.
1. Are you sure it was the LIVERPOOL Blue Coat School? There are several other Blue
Coat Schools around the country.
2. From 1920 onwards, records are retained by the Blue Coat Foundation. The
Foundation Secretary, Eddie Ardren, will try to assist you, but will need as much
information as possible. If you know the date when they were enrolled or left the
school, it will make his search easier. Eddie can be contacted on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays or Thursdays on 0151 734 4930, or by e- mail:
3. Prior to 1920, enquiries should be directed to:
