John (left) and Hugh Houston are pictured at Beaumaris.

The photo was taken by their elder sister when she came to visit them. Wearing their best Sunday uniforms they had been for a walk to a local beach. John was 10 at the time and his brother Hugh (also known as "Shirty") was 11.

Sadly Hugh died about 13 years ago after a lifetime's service in the Army, which he joined shortly after leaving school at 16. He was still in service at the time with the TA and had attained the rank of Major.
