The school's first-ever Sixth Form Centre opened in September 1977. Its first occupants were the gang shown here, who took their "A" levels and departed in the summer of 1978.
There were four small classrooms numbered S1 to S4. The radiator in S3 was stuck on full, and the room became known as "The Sweat Room". These lads were, naturally, known as "The Sweat Room Gang". The Sixth Form Centre was demolished in 2002 - the School Office now stands on the spot.
The colour pictures were taken on a trip to Switzerland, and all the photos in this slideshow were kindly sent in by Mark Hemingway.
In picture 7 you will see PE teacher John Rees, who is still teaching at the Blue Coat School.
