We receive many enquiries from people trying to find out about their ancestors who may have been pupils at the Blue Coat School. Before contacting us, these little pointers may help you.
1. Are you sure it was the LIVERPOOL Blue Coat School? There are several other Blue Coat Schools around the country.
2. From 1920 onwards, records are retained by the Blue Coat Foundation. The Foundation Secretary, Eddie Ardren, will try to assist you, but
will need as much information as possible. If you know the date when they were enrolled or left the school, it will make his search easier.
Eddie can be contacted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays on 0151 734 4930, or by e- mail: eddie@bluecoatoccasions.co.uk
3. Prior to 1920, enquiries should be directed to:
RECORDS OFFICE
LIVERPOOL CITY COUNCIL
CENTRAL LIBRARY
WILLIAM BROWN STREET
LIVERPOOL
L3 8EW
Telephone: 0151 233 5817, or e-mail: recoffice.central.library@liverpool.gov.uk
If you are looking for an Old Blue who is still alive, it is possible that they may be a member of the Brotherly Society. If you contact us, we will check our records. The Data Protection Act 1998 prevents us from giving out contact details of our members, but we can forward your details on to them and ask them to contact you.
